Cracked rubber hoses and a sticking non-return valve are typical problems with the air injection, where secondary air is fed into the exhaust for cleaner combustion of unburned residue. When the non-return valve leaks you often hear popping in the exhaust system and the pump can draw hot exhaust gases backwards – a classic checkpoint when rebuilding the B20F system.

This category gathers the parts around the air pump and its piping. The group includes hoses and a non-return valve for the airflow, a pulley and fitting nut for the pump drive, plus fasteners such as screw, nut, washer and lock ring. When replacing them it is worth checking that the pulley runs true and that the hoses have not hardened from the heat near the manifold, since dry hoses are a common cause of leakage and poor function.
The selection is tailored for the Volvo 240 with the B20F engine and makes it easier when the entire air injection is to be gone through as a whole rather than part by part.
