Depending on version, the system has two or three silencers (front, centre and rear). The front pipe and several other parts changed at chassis numbers that differ between saloon and estate, and cars for Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland have their own systems from 1986.
The manifold differs between turbo and non-turbo engines. The V6 has a left and a right manifold, and on the straight-six engines the manifold is split into several sections.
Volvo also listed long-life kits as replacement versions. Renew rubber mountings, sealing rings and gaskets at the joints while the system is off the car.
