Exhaust system Volvo 740 (B28A/E)

Rusted-through pipe joints and cracked rubber hangers that let the exhaust system hang down and knock against the floor are classic faults on the 740 with the V6 B28A/E motor. When the mountings give way, replacing a single pipe is rarely enough – it's the surrounding fasteners that determine how long the job lasts.

This group covers suspension and joint parts: braces and clamps that draw the pipes together, rubber hangers that carry the system, plus washers, wave washers, lock nuts, hex nuts and knobs for the mountings. During restoration it's worth checking every hanger and brace against the baffle and rear axle – a tired rubber suspension causes noise and loads the next joint.

Since this concerns a specific motor variant, the motor code and design dictate which dimensions and angles fit, so match the parts against the car's own mounting points before fitting.
