Ignition System Volvo 240 (D20/D24)

Sluggish cold start, white starting smoke and several seconds of cranking before the diesel catches – on a D20/D24, worn glow plugs are one of the first things to check when the thermometer drops. This category gathers glow system parts for the Volvo 240 with these specific diesel engines, so the preheating can bring the temperature in the combustion chambers back up.

The group includes glow plugs, wave washers and nuts – families that belong together when the plugs are replaced and torqued to the correct spec. Since the 240 was built with both gas and diesel engines, the engine code determines which parts fit; the D20/D24 has its own glow plug dimension and its own mounting, so it pays to check the engine variant before you add a part to your basket. Corroded threads and rusted-on nuts are common problems during the job, and then healthy wave washers and nuts are just as important as the plug itself.
