A sluggish brake pedal or a hard brake at cold start can point to a leaking vacuum hose or a vacuum tank that no longer holds vacuum. On the 740/760 with a four-cylinder engine of model year up to and including 1987, the vacuum system supplies the brake booster with vacuum, and a failing pump or cracked hoses are common checkpoints when the pedal feels abnormally heavy.

This group includes vacuum pumps, vacuum tanks, hose and pipe as well as mounting parts such as support, screw, washer, flange nut and grommet. Since the fit follows the engine and chassis number (-1987), you should check connections and mounting against the existing setup before replacement – small differences in hose routing and brackets do occur.
