D camshaft kit B18/B20 – mild tuning profile

The D profile is a step up from the original and suits you if you want a little more character and power. The profile was fitted as original in the B20E up to and including 1973 and is a popular choice for mild street tuning – it gives noticeably more life in the mid-range and top end while retaining good everyday driveability.

Fitting requirements

The D profile requires a skimmed cylinder head or a tuning head so that there is room for the valve lift – check this before you order.

Always fit new tappets together with the camshaft, and use running-in paste (P110) on the lobes and tappets. A new camshaft run in against worn tappets is quickly damaged – therefore the warranty only applies if new tappets and running-in paste are purchased and fitted at the same time.

The camshaft nut is tightened to 80 Nm with threadlocker (Loctite).
