A loose bumper and rusty mountings are classic symptoms on the 240/260 from the second half of the '70s, where the spacer rubber dries out and the absorbers lose their tension. This category gathers the parts that hold the front bumper in place on the early chassis (1975-80), before the facelift for model year 1981.

The group includes spacer rubber, absorber and retainer together with the spacerplate and guide washer that set the bumper at the correct height and distance from the body. The mounting comprises a screw, hexagon screw and complete mounting kits. During a refurbishment it is common to check the mounting points in the body for rust at the same time as the absorber and spacer rubber are replaced – a worn spacer rubber is often the cause of a crooked bumper and rattling over uneven roads. Note that the design differs from the later 240/260, so the model year and chassis determine which parts fit.
