Rust attacks the 142 typically at the bottom in the fender trim, sills and around the spare wheel container, where moisture and grit collect over the years. This category gathers repair plates – often called economy plate – for cutting out rusted-through metal and welding in fresh, sound material instead of scrapping whole body parts.

The group includes fender trim, sill plates, side plating and the spare wheel container, plus smaller parts such as shield mounts, hood mounts and brackets. The plates are shaped for the 142's two-door body, so the joints fit against the existing seams and reinforcements.
During a restoration a common checkpoint is the sill and its mountings – measure carefully and check the adjacent metal before you cut, since rust often extends farther in than the surface shows. That way the weld seam stays clean and the load-bearing sections remain strong.
