Bubbling paint along the lower edge of the door and sill is a classic rust spot on the 144 – moisture and grit collect in the sill box and bottom swell and eat away from the inside. This category brings together repair plate for the load-bearing side sections of the sedan-bodied 144, model years 1967-74.

The group includes sill plate and sill, bottom swell, wheel housing and centre pillar – parts that are welded in when the original plate has rusted through around the jack pads and door pillars. During restoration, the attachments to the floor and pillar are an important checkpoint, since hidden rust often extends further than the surface shows. Bear in mind that the plate profiles differ between body and door variants within the 140 series, so check against the 144 and model year before fitting.
