Rear suspension Volvo 850 (AWD)

A clunk over uneven roads or a rear wheel that feels loose in corners can point to tired bushings and play in the control arms – common inspection points on the 850 with Delta-link rear axle, where ride comfort is combined with the stability of a solid axle. On the AWD version the parts sit tightly around the driven rear suspension, so fit and the correct version should be checked against the car before starting the job.

This category gathers parts for the rear suspension: control arms, bushings, washers, safety rings, retainers as well as flange lock nuts and lock nuts. During a rebuild the rubber bushings are a typical wear point – they harden and crack over the years and often give a vague driving feel before anything is visible during a quick visual check. Safety rings and lock nuts belong to the same job and should be replaced when the control arms are loosened.
