High or fluctuating idle and a sluggish cold start are classic symptoms when the fuel delivery control parts have grown tired on an early 240/260. This category gathers the parts that govern the air and fuel volume at idle and during warm-up on cars up to 1984, with the four-cylinder B21 and B23 in focus.

The group includes auxiliary air valves that open an extra air path during cold starting, along with hoses, hose clamps, washers, spacer sleeves and mounting parts such as screws, hex. socket screws and hexagon screws. A common point to check during troubleshooting is the auxiliary air valve itself, together with cracked hoses and loose clamps – leaking false air here often causes uneven running and varying engine speed.
When going through the system, it is smart to replace aged rubber hoses and worn clamps at the same time, so that the new control parts seal tightly and the idle stays stable over time.
