Seizing rear brake calipers, worn brake pads or a brake disc that has started to rust at the rim are classic reasons to dig into the rear brake on a 240 or 260. Since the series has disc brakes all round, there is a fixed brake caliper at each rear wheel, and the decisive factor for fitment is which make the car was built with – ATE or Girling. The calipers, pads and associated parts differ between the systems and must not be mixed. Check the markings on the caliper before you order.
