Vibrations in the cabin at speed or a dull noise during acceleration can point to a worn centre bearing or play in the flange joint of the propeller shaft. On the Volvo 164 with the inline-six B30, the shaft is two-piece with a centre bearing against the baffle, and the bearing cage and mounting in particular are common inspection points during a rebuild.

This category brings together mounting parts and wear parts around the propeller shaft on the 164. The group includes a bearing cage, mud flap, spring, screw and flange screw, washer, lock nut and a complete bolt kit. Since the 164 came with different gearboxes – the M400 early on and the M410 with overdrive later – it is wise to check the flange dimensions and mounting against the car before ordering parts, so the rear power transfer is free of play and quiet.
