Rusted-through rear silencers, cracked clamps and dry rubber mounts that let the pipe knock against the body are classic signs that the exhaust system on a 164 is becoming ripe for replacement. On the fuel-injected B30E/B30F cars, a relatively long system sits behind the straight-six, and every joint and mount must stay tight to avoid noise and exhaust odour in the cabin.

This category gathers the parts needed when restoring and replacing the exhaust system on the 164 with B30E/F between 1970 and 1973. The group includes pipe and system parts, clamps to draw the joints together, rubber rings for the mounts, and fastening hardware such as screws, nuts, washers and copper washers for flange connections.
During removal, threaded connections are often attacked by heat and rust – so plan for new nuts and copper washers in the flanges, as old ones rarely seal if reused. Also check the rubber rings, which harden over the years and let the system hang crooked.
