Rust in the lower corners of the cowl panel, at the spring tower mountings and around the jack pads are classic inspection points on a 164 that has stood outside. When the tie plates between the cowl panel, rocker and inner fender rust through, the body loses rigidity, and the mountings should then be checked before they are weld-repaired.

This category gathers the plate and reinforcement parts for the cowl section: tie plates, cross member and jack pad together with weld primer that protects the freshly blasted surfaces before final painting. Since the 164 has a long nose with a heavy straight-six, the front mountings are heavily loaded, which makes correct fit and the right plate thickness important during the repair.
