Cracked panels, loose lids and ashtrays that won't stay in place are among the most common age-related faults in the cabin of a 240/260 – and it's often the small fasteners that are missing. This category gathers parts to freshen up and seal the instrument panel on cars from the larger facelift of model year 1981 and onward, where the panel design differs from the earliest model years.

The group includes panels and lids that cover holes and storage compartments, an ashtray to replace worn originals, plus vent housings for the fresh-air and defroster jets. For the mounting itself there are fasteners, screws and cross recessed screws that hold the panels taut, plus a steering column cover around the steering shaft. During a restoration a typical check point is precisely the fasteners behind the panels – once they become brittle the panel comes loose at the edges and starts to squeak against the lower edge of the windshield.
