The cable's end fittings and mounting points are common wear points – a stretched or binding wire gives delayed throttle response and can prevent the shutter from reaching the fully open position. When refurbishing, it is worth checking at the same time that the return spring pulls the pedal back fully and that the ball joint in the linkage has no play.
Since the motor variant determines the mounting and cable routing, it is important to start from the correct motor code when selecting parts.
