Wiper arm hub – Volvo PV, Duett, Amazon, P1800, 140 Autolite, Bosch & SWF 6 mm

Hub for the wiper spindle and wiper arm for several classic Volvo models with a 6 mm wiper spindle. Fits wiper systems from Autolite, Bosch and SWF.

During fitting, the wiper spindle cuts the internal splines in the hub itself. The hub's inner diameter is therefore initially slightly less than 6 mm.

Fitting

Remove the old hub by carefully prising it off or by using a small puller.

Fit the new hub with a drop of suitable retaining compound and gently tap it onto the wiper spindle. During fitting, the splined spindle forms the hub's internal splines.

At the same time, support the wiper mechanism from inside the car so that the mechanism is not stressed or damaged when the hub is tapped into place.

Good to know

It is normal for the new hub's internal dimension to be slightly less than 6 mm. The hub is manufactured this way because the wiper spindle forms the internal splines during fitting.
