High Performance exhaust valve with a 37 mm valve head, manufactured in Europe for Volvo B20 and B30 engines. Bimetallic construction

The valve head is made from heat-resistant 21-4 steel and joined to the stem by friction welding. The weld is positioned approximately halfway along the stem, within the area that runs inside the valve guide.

Designed for improved exhaust flow

The valve head features a spiral-polished surface and an undercut transition between the stem and valve head. This design is intended to improve exhaust gas flow around the valve.

Hardening and surface treatment

The entire valve is nitrided for increased surface hardness and wear resistance. The upper section of the valve stem, including the keeper grooves, is hardened. The valve tip and seating surface are finish-ground after nitriding.

According to the manufacturer's specifications, the valve material and surface treatment eliminate the need for an additional Stellite coating on the valve seating surface.

Engine Tuning and Cylinder Head Restoration

On Volvo B20 and B30 engines, upgrading from standard 35 mm exhaust valves to 37 mm valves, combined with machining the exhaust ports in the cylinder head, can help increase engine torque.

The upgrade can be carried out during cylinder head restoration, for example when installing new valve seat inserts for use with unleaded petrol.

This modification can also be combined with a K camshaft and twin SU HS6 carburettors.

Important Information

This is a performance valve and not a direct replacement for the standard valve. Installation requires inspection and modification of the cylinder head, valve seats and exhaust ports.
