Fuel Tank Sender Unit for Volvo 240, 260 with Fuel Injection 1978–1993

Fuel sender unit for Volvo 240, 260 and 262 with fuel injection engine, model year from 1978. The sender unit sits in the fuel tank and operates the fuel gauge in the instrument cluster. The float follows the fuel level and changes the sender unit's resistance, and that value is what the gauge displays.

Supplied without in-tank pump. Seal, locking ring and pump strainer are separate items and are best replaced at the same time.

Fitting

The sender unit is accessed through the boot, under the cover plate above the tank, which is held by four screws. The tank does not need to be removed. If the sender unit has been in storage, the resistance track may have oxidised: move the float up and down 5–10 times before fitting. Check that the in-tank pump works after fitting.
