Stainless steel sports exhaust system with a 2" pipe diameter (50.8 mm) for Volvo 1800S model years 1966–1969 with B18 or B20 engine. The exhaust system also fits Volvo 1800E and 1800ES model years 1970–1973 without modification.

The exhaust system is manufactured in Sweden by Simons and supplied with a mounting kit. Please note that the mounting kit is not made from stainless steel. The system features two straight tailpipes and is designed for owners who want to give their classic Volvo a sportier, fuller exhaust sound.

The larger pipe diameter allows for potentially freer exhaust gas flow compared with an exhaust system with a smaller pipe diameter. This sports exhaust system is an alternative both when replacing a worn exhaust system and when upgrading to a sportier configuration.

Sportier Exhaust Sound and Freer Exhaust Flow

The sports exhaust system has a pipe diameter of 2 inches (50.8 mm) and two straight tailpipes. Its design produces a sportier exhaust sound and may reduce exhaust flow restriction compared with a system with a smaller pipe diameter.

Any effect on engine power depends on the engine's condition, configuration and possible modifications. A specific power increase therefore cannot be guaranteed.

Also Fits Volvo 1800E and 1800ES

Although the sports exhaust system is primarily intended for Volvo 1800S model years 1966–1969, it also fits Volvo 1800E and 1800ES model years 1970–1973 without modification.

This is a sports configuration with two straight tailpipes for owners who prefer this design over the vehicle's original configuration.

Check the Parts Before Installation

Before starting installation, check that all parts have been supplied and that the exhaust system configuration matches the vehicle's existing connections.

Installation

1. Removal: The nuts at the exhaust manifold may be difficult to loosen due to corrosion. Use penetrating oil and suitable tools to avoid damaging the studs and connections.

2. Check the sealing surface: Clean the exhaust manifold mating surface and check that it is flat and free from damage. If the connection does not seal properly, do not overtighten the nuts to compensate. This may damage the cast-iron exhaust manifold or the studs.

3. Fit the exhaust system: Assemble the pipes and mufflers without fully tightening the clamps. Exhaust assembly paste can be used at the joints.

4. Check the mounting points: The exhaust system has two mounting points:

   • At the inlet pipe of the centre muffler

   • At the outlet pipe of the rear muffler

5. Align and tighten: Position all components so that the exhaust system hangs freely without touching the bodywork or other components. Check that the tailpipes are straight and have sufficient clearance from the bodywork. Then tighten the clamps and mountings.

6. Check for leaks: Start the engine and check that all joints and connections are leak-free before driving the vehicle.
