Camshaft B18/B20

Camshaft with Penta profile, intended for Volvo Penta marine engines corresponding to the B18 and B20 car engines. The Penta profile is adapted for marine use, where the engine often runs under steady, high load, unlike the varying driving conditions of a car.

Fit a new camshaft to restore the engine's original character and reliability, or replace a worn original camshaft with one that meets Volvo's specification.

Important when fitting

Always fit new tappets together with the camshaft, and lubricate the camshaft and tappets with running-in paste (molybdenum disulphide grease) before the first start. A new camshaft run in against worn tappets will quickly be damaged, so the warranty is only valid if new tappets are purchased and fitted at the same time.

The camshaft nut is tightened to 80 Nm with thread-locking compound (Loctite).

We also recommend an oil with zinc additive during running-in and in service, which protects the cam lobes and tappets against wear.

Remember to add:
New tappets and running-in paste are required for the warranty to apply. It is also a good idea to check the valve springs and camshaft bearings while the engine is apart anyway.
