Materials and Manufacturing
The set contains gaskets and seals as shown in the picture. Most of the gaskets are supplied by Dana/Glaser in Spain, while the oil seals are sourced from Germany and Italy.
The components are then assembled and packed by CVR in Hökerum, Sweden, using carefully selected components for high quality, good fit and sealing.
Cylinder Head Tightening Torque
Tighten the cylinder head in stages:
- 20 Nm
- 40 Nm
- Angle-tighten 115°
Follow the correct tightening sequence for the B234F cylinder head.
Installation – Tips and Practice
- Thoroughly clean and degrease the sealing surfaces. Carefully remove old gasket material and inspect the sealing surfaces of the cylinder head and engine block.
- Check the locating dowels and threads in the engine block. Bolt and threaded holes must be clean before installation.
- Check the condition of the cylinder head bolts and follow Volvo's or the bolt manufacturer's instructions regarding replacement.
- A small amount of suitable high-temperature RTV can be used around the valve cover half-moons where required by the design.
- Lightly lubricate O-rings with engine oil during installation to reduce the risk of pinching or incorrect positioning.
- Check the installation direction of gaskets that have a specified front and rear orientation.
- Follow the workshop manual's tightening sequence and tighten the cylinder head in the specified stages with the engine cold.
- After installation, fill and bleed the cooling system according to the workshop instructions.
- For tuned engines or motorsport use, correct cooling and proper fuel and ignition settings are particularly important to avoid excessive thermal loads.
