Materials and manufacture

The set contains gaskets and seals as shown in the picture. Most of the gaskets come from Dana/Glaser in Spain, while the oil seals come from Germany and Italy.

The parts are then assembled and packed by CVR in Hökerum, Sweden, using carefully selected components for high quality, good fit and sealing.

Cylinder head tightening torque

The cylinder head is tightened in stages:

1. 20 Nm
2. 40 Nm
3. Angle-tighten 115°

Fitting – tips and good practice

• Clean and degrease the sealing faces thoroughly. Carefully remove old gasket residue and check the sealing faces of the cylinder head and engine block.
• Check the dowels and threads in the engine block. Bolt holes and threaded holes must be clean before fitting.
• Check the condition of the cylinder head bolts and follow Volvo's or the bolt manufacturer's instructions on whether the bolts should be replaced.
• At the cam cover half-moon seals, a small amount of suitable high-temperature RTV can be used where the design requires it.
• Lightly lubricate O-rings with engine oil when fitting to reduce the risk of them pinching or seating incorrectly.
• Check the fitting direction of gaskets that have a specific front and back.
• Follow the workshop manual's tightening sequence and tighten the cylinder head in the specified stages on a cold engine.
• After fitting, the cooling system should be filled and bled according to the car's workshop instructions.
• On tuned engines or for motorsport use, correct cooling and correct fuel and ignition settings are especially important to avoid abnormally high heat load.
