During a rebuild, the water pump's bearing and seal, the radiator core and the condition of the hoses are typical check points — an old hose that cracks internally can choke the flow without showing on the outside. If you replace the pump, it's a good idea to renew the hoses and clamps at the same time, since they wear along with the engine.
