Rusty brake pipes and cracked brake hoses are classic finds when a B18 122 with a single-circuit system is taken apart. On a car with a single-circuit master cylinder, a leak at a single point means all braking effect disappears – which is why the condition of the pipes and hoses is one of the most important things to check during a restoration.

The installation also includes plastilube and grease that make routing new pipes easier and keep threads and nipples in good condition.
When replacing, it is common to check the threads of the nipples and the mounting of the hoses – bend and cut the pipes to the correct length, and route them clear of heat and moving parts. Going through the entire circuit gives a tight and reliable hydraulic system on the older single-circuit brake.
