Volvo 140/164 Steering gear
Heavy steering, play in the steering wheel or leakage at the steering box are among the common reasons to go through the steering on a 140 or 164. The four-cylinder 140 models were driven without power steering and have a cam-and-roller steering box that wears with age and develops play, while the 164 could be ordered with servo as an option – early 164s, however, had no servo. That determines which steering box and steering gear will fit.
