License Light Volvo 145 (1967-74)

A dark or flickering number plate light behind the tailgate is a common complaint on the 145, and the cause can just as easily be a tired bulb as moisture under a brittle gasket. This category gathers the parts that light up the registration plate on the wagon model and keep the inspection requirement in check.

The group includes number plate illumination, bulbs and gaskets – families that go together when a fixture is to be refurbished or replaced entirely. On the 145 the lighting sits exposed near the lower edge of the tailgate, so the glass, the base and the seal are typical checkpoints against intruding moisture and corrosion. Since the 145 is a 12-volt car, bulbs are chosen by the correct voltage and base. Check the contact surfaces and the condition of the gasket at the same time as you replace the bulb, so you avoid recurring play and oxidation.
