Trunk Volvo 142/144 (1973-74)
Play in the hinges, a lid that won't stay put or a lock catch that has lost its grip are classic wear points on the sedan's trunk lid. On the 142/144 of model year 1973-74 the hinges use spring pins that wear oval over the years, and then the lid starts to hang crooked against the body opening.

This group includes hinge halves and spring pins to straighten up the mounting, trunk handles, lock catch and key blanks for the lock function, plus screws, washers and cross recessed screws that hold it all together. During a restoration it is worth checking both the spring pin's wear and how the lock catch meets the piston – if the pin is ovalized it is rarely enough to just replace one hinge half.
