Performance Exhaust Headers for Volvo 140 B18/B20 – Types 1, 2 and 3

Performance exhaust headers for the Volvo 140 Series with B18 and B20 engines. Available in three versions to suit different engine displacements and tuning levels. The headers are designed to improve exhaust gas flow in tuned engines.

Choosing the Right Type

Type 1 – B18/B20

Designed for mildly tuned engines.

• Example: Stage 1 or Stage 2 cylinder head

• Recommended exhaust system: 2" or 2.5"

Type 2 – B20, 2.1/2.2 litres

Designed for engines with a higher level of tuning.

• Example: Stage 2 or Stage 3 cylinder head

• Recommended exhaust system: 2.5"

Type 3 – B20, 2.1/2.2/2.3/2.5 litres

Designed for heavily tuned engines.

• Example: Stage 3 cylinder head or higher tuning level

• Recommended exhaust system: 2.5–3"

Recommended Exhaust Systems

A custom-made exhaust system is recommended to suit the engine configuration and level of tuning.

Ready-made 2.5" exhaust systems are also available for the Volvo 140 Series:

• Up to and including model year 1973: 871-H

• From model year 1974 onwards: 876-H

Installation and Fitment

The exhaust headers are designed for the Volvo 140 Series.

• Type 1 and Type 2 generally fit without major modifications.

• Type 3 may require additional clearance around the upper control arm.

• Pipe angle and positioning may vary depending on engine mounts and bodywork.

• When installing Type 3 on later B20 engines, clearance may be limited around the reinforcement on the lower aluminium housing towards the gearbox. Minor grinding of the reinforcement may be necessary.

Intake Manifold Compatibility

The headers are compatible with most intake manifolds designed for twin carburettors.

They can also be used with:

• Fuel injection intake manifolds

• Aluminium intake manifolds for twin SU carburettors

Not compatible with DCD/DGV intake manifolds. The centre header pipes interfere with the intake manifold, preventing correct installation.
