Here you will find repair panels for Volvo 240 & 260, sorted by body style and model, for anyone who repairs rust instead of replacing the whole body part. The Volvo 240 and 260 have categories for sill, floor, wing, body side, door, bonnet and roof, split across 242/262, 244/264 and 245/265, meaning two-door, four-door and estate. Frequently asked questions
Will the repair panel fit straight out of the box?
Normally not. A repair panel is made for patching and shaping, not for replacing a whole pressed part. Expect to trim, straighten and test-fit several times before you spot-weld or bond.
Can I use a panel from another body style, for example a saloon panel on an estate?
Not without extra work. Saloon, estate, two-door and four-door bodies differ in length and pressing, so choose the category that matches your body style.
Why is a sill made of several parts?
A sill is built up of several layers, for example an inner, a middle and an outer panel. The rust is often in the layer beneath the one you can see, so find out which layer is affected and replace the right one.
Do I need to reinforce around the jacking point?
The jacking point carries the weight of the car when you lift it, so a repaired area must be at least as strong as the original. Reinforce or replace the whole mount instead of only patching, and never lift on freshly welded metal before the job is finished.
Can I replace several panels at once?
Do one side at a time. The body loses stiffness when metal is removed, so support the car on stands, leave the shape of the door opening untouched and test-fit the door before you finish welding.
How do I protect against rust after welding?
New panels have no rust protection. Treat the inside with rust-proof primer and cavity wax after welding, and keep the drain holes open so water can run out.
Do model years differ?
Yes, details can change during a model's production run. Read the model name and any years in the category and compare them with your car. Not sure? Send us the chassis number and we will help.
