Warped or rust-damaged brake discs and worn pads are the most common reasons the front brakes on a B18 122 need attention. Front disc brakes appeared on the 90-horsepower 122S from August 1961 and then spread across the range up to 1964 – and these early cars often run a single-circuit system, which means a hydraulic leak affects the entire braking action. That is why the condition of the front parts is especially critical here.
The group includes brake pads, brake discs and splash guards, along with mounting kits, repair kits, screws and wheel bolts. Brake drums are also available for cars with combined versions. During a front brake overhaul it is wise to check the brake disc thickness and runout, the pad wear, and that the splash guard has not rusted through around the mounting points before fitting new parts.
