Cracked or sun-faded taillight lenses and moisture behind the lens are typical wear points on the 142/144 from the years 1967-72, and a worn gasket is often the reason the lamp fogs up. This group includes taillight lenses, bulbs, gaskets, rims plus the screw, lock washer and washer for the mounting – part families that belong together when a rear light unit is being freshened up.

When restoring the rear light, the condition of the gasket and the lens mounting are common checkpoints, since a housing with a brittle rubber edge quickly lets in water and corrodes the contact sheets. The 142/144 are 12-volt cars, so the bulbs follow that standard. Always check the model year and body against the fit, since details on the rear section changed during production of the 140 series.
