Air filter thermostat for Volvo 240, 260, 262, 740, 760, 780, 940, 960, B23, B230F

Air Intake Thermostat Volvo 240, 260, 740, 760, 780, 940, 960 – Part No. 1266826

Air intake thermostat located in the air filter box that automatically controls the warm and cold air flap (preheating system). The thermostat regulates the intake air temperature to ensure proper engine operation under varying conditions.

If the thermostat is faulty, the engine may continuously draw hot air from the exhaust manifold. This can lead to driveability issues and may damage the mass air flow sensor.

Fits the following

• Volvo 240, 260, 262 1979–1993, all petrol engines
• Volvo 740, 760, 780, all petrol and diesel engines
• Volvo 940 up to 1992 with D24
• Volvo 940, 960 with 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engines

Product Information

• Part Number: 1266826
• Type: Air intake thermostat
• Location: Air filter box

OEM / Reference Number

• 1266826

Information

• Automatically controls the warm and cold intake air flap
• Helps maintain proper engine temperature during cold starts and warm-up
• Mounted inside the air filter box
• Helps protect the mass air flow sensor from excessive intake air temperatures

Important Information

A faulty thermostat may cause the engine to continuously draw hot air from the exhaust manifold. This can result in poor engine performance and reduce the service life of the mass air flow sensor.

Installation

Inspect the air flap operation, vacuum hoses and the condition of the air filter box during replacement. Ensure the warm/cold air flap moves freely after installation.
