The bushing is used in the clutch release mechanism. A worn or damaged bushing can cause excessive play in the clutch release fork and affect clutch operation.

Wear Can Cause Gear-Shifting Problems

When the bushing or the clutch release fork mounting becomes worn, excessive play can develop in the clutch release mechanism. This can prevent the release fork from moving far enough to fully disengage the clutch.

This can cause:

• Difficulty engaging gears

• Grinding or unusual noises when shifting gears

• The clutch not fully disengaging even when the pedal is fully depressed

Installation

Check that the clutch release fork and its mounting are free from damage and excessive wear before installing the new rubber bushing.

Fit the bushing in the correct position without damaging the rubber. Then check that the clutch release fork moves freely, without excessive play, and that the clutch fully disengages.

Also check the clutch adjustment according to the vehicle's workshop manual.
