Camshaft right – Volvo B280E (V6)

Camshaft for the right cylinder bank on Volvo models with the B280E V6 engine. Like its predecessors the B27/B28, the B280E is a V6 with one camshaft per cylinder bank – this one fits the right side.

A worn camshaft causes rough running and reduced power, and can in the worst case damage other engine components. Fit a new one to restore the original character and reliability of your Volvo.

Important when fitting

This is an interference engine – pistons and valves share the same space. Never turn the camshaft or crankshaft with the timing drive (timing chain/sprockets) removed or loosened. Doing so will cause the valves to strike the pistons and bend, resulting in serious engine damage. Follow the timing marks in the workshop manual carefully during assembly.

Always fit new cam followers together with the camshaft, and apply running-in paste to lobes and followers. A new camshaft run in against worn followers is quickly damaged.

We recommend an oil with a zinc additive during running-in and operation, which protects lobes and followers against wear – for example Kendall 20W50 or 10W40.
