Volvo PV/Duett Hand brake

A slack hand brake that won't hold the car on a hill is most often caused by stretched cables, a binding adjuster mechanism or worn ratchet pawls. The hand brake acts mechanically on the rear drum brakes and is entirely separate from the hydraulic circuit, so it pays to check the cable attachments and return springs individually during a rebuild.
