Front wheel brake Volvo PV 544 (B16) (CH 207866-)
Scraping noises, uneven braking and a pedal that sinks are classic signs of a worn front drum brake. The 544 with the B16 used hydraulic drum brakes on a single-circuit system, which makes the condition of the wheel cylinders and seals critical – a single leak takes out all of the brake pressure. The parts here are gathered for chassis from 207866 and up.

A mounting kit and brake grease make assembly easier. When rebuilding the front brake, the wheel cylinder rubber caps, the springiness of the return springs and the inner diameter of the drums are typical inspection points – play or rust here causes uneven brake grip.
